TikTok is said to be choosing a new battlefield with a photo-sharing social network to compete with Instagram.

According to TechNewsSpace, while Instagram is trying to compete with TikTok in the field of short videos, the most prominent features of this American social network are still posting images and sharing stories of the day. Now, TikTok is responding to Meta’s platform by developing its app to compete with Instagram.

According to the blog site TheSpAndroid, the latest version of the TikTok app has had its source code explored and found to contain multiple references to an upcoming app called ‘TikTok Photos’.

This application is expected to be similar to Instagram, with a News Feed for users to post photos for friends and family to see. Users can also repost some content from the main TikTok app to the platform. A code in the application shows that this will be a place where “people with similar interests and passion for posting photos can find each other” and there is also the option to share images to this social network.

The official launch date of TikTok Photos has not yet been revealed, but an announcement is expected soon.

Currently, many famous bloggers on Instagram complain that this social network is increasingly focusing on video content, losing its original purpose as a photo-sharing platform. TikTok could fill this gap, but perhaps this is not the best time for such an effort. Specifically, the US Congress is preparing to vote on a bill forcing ByteDance to sell TikTok or it will be blocked in the US.
