AMD, the chip designer, has recently introduced a new chip for artificial intelligence (AI)-powered computing. The company aims to expand its share of the PC AI market with this new technology. According to a press release by AMD, these chips are expected to be available on HP and Lenovo platforms in the second quarter of 2024.

AI-enabled PCs have the ability to run large language models and applications powered by the technology directly on the device, without needing to rely on cloud computing. The latest Ryzen PRO 8040 Series by AMD is designed for “business laptops and mobile workstations,” while the AMD Ryzen PRO 8000 Series is a desktop processor for business users, as reported by Reuters.

Industry experts predict a recovery in the PC market due to the advent of PC AI. Consumers are looking to upgrade their computer systems to take advantage of new features. The high demand for advanced semiconductors to be used to run complex AI programs has led to the advent of generative AI technology. In the AI PC market, AMD faces stiff competition from Intel and AI chip leader Nvidia.
