Google ‘laughed at’ Apple for not having creative AI on the iPhone

Recently, Google released an advertisement that targets Apple’s iPhone with a scene of the two mobile phones participating in the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. In the ad, the iPhone is wearing a large floppy hat and some neon rings underneath, even an outer protective case, while Google’s Pixel has nothing on it.

The ad showcases Pixel’s AI-powered features, such as the Magic Editor function. When the iPhone asked Pixel to take a photo of itself dancing on the lawn at sunset, Pixel agreed but when the night fell, the iPhone forgot to jump. Pixel took a photo for the iPhone, and when the iPhone asked for another photo, Pixel used the Magic Editor function to move the iPhone’s position and even change the color of the sky.

Google mentioned at the end of the ad that the Pixel 8 series is the company’s first mobile phone equipped with synthetic AI functions like magic photo editing. This function takes image editing on the device to a new level, allowing users to change the shooting object, position, size of things, and even the color of the sky.

Additionally, Google recently announced that starting May 15, users can use the magical photo editing function through Google Photos for free without needing a Pixel phone. Users can save up to ten magically edited photos per month, as long as it’s an Android device running Android 8 or later or an iPhone model running iOS 15 or later.
