According to CNBC, Huawei will be the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturer in China in the third quarter of 2023.

smartphone sales According to a report from Counterpoint Research, Huawei in China increased by 37% over the same period last year, accounting for 12.9% of the market share in the third quarter of 2023. The growth that Mate 60 brings is pushing Huawei closer to the list of top 5 smartphone manufacturers by market share in China

The company announced that it will continue to optimize the management system, improve performance, and operational quality, and perfect sales strategy along with product mix. Huawei said revenue from January to September reached 62.4 billion USD, up 2.4% over the same period last year. However, revenue growth is slower than the 3.1% increase in the first half of 2023.

Previously, Huawei was Apple’s only worthy competitor in the high-end smartphone segment in China. After being punished by the US in 2019, the company could not access important technologies, so Huawei’s smartphones gradually lost their appeal to consumers.

In September 2023, Huawei released the Mate 60 Pro, equipped with a 7 nm chip and 5G connection. Counterpoint Research said that in the first 6 weeks after the phone’s launch, Huawei sold 1.6 million Mate 60 Pro units.

Some analysts believe that Huawei’s return could pose new challenges for Apple in the country of billions of people. Canalys researcher Lucas Zhong said that if Huawei’s new chip is included in future mid-range to low-end phones, the company could take market share from other competitors.

In addition to the smartphone segment, Huawei also promotes the development of cloud computing to diversify revenue sources and overcome sanctions. In September, the company opened a data center in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) to provide cloud services to customers in the country and other regions in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia.

However, Huawei’s telecommunications business is under increasing pressure in the West in the context of the European Union (EU) calling on member states to block Huawei from 5G networks for national security reasons.
