This new chip boasts impressive features, including on-device AI capabilities, a 15% improved CPU, a 45% improved Adreno GPU, and a 5% reduction in power consumption compared to its predecessor.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip is built on a 4nm process with a Cortex-X4 main core clocked at 2.8 GHz. It also has 4 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz, likely Cortex-A720, and 3 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz, likely Cortex-A520. The chip integrates a Snapdragon X63 5G modem with FastConnect 7800 and a 3GPP Release 17 5G mobile connection system, allowing for download speeds up to 4.2 Gbps and compatibility with all older mobile standards.

One of the most notable features of this new chip is its on-device synthetic AI capabilities, which provide support for a wide range of LLMs and LVMs such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano, and Zhipu ChatGLM. This will allow Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 devices to have better virtual assistants and unprecedented content creation with incredible efficiency. Entertainment is also provided everywhere with multilingual translation and transcription.

Qualcomm has stated that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 also supports displays up to 4K@60 Hz and QHD+@120 Hz and variable refresh rates from 1 Hz to 240 Hz. The chip can work with up to 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM and storage in UFS 4.0 format.

OnePlus, Realme, and Sharp are the first companies to equip their smartphones with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chips. The OnePlus Ace 3V was the first smartphone to launch with this new chip. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is an impressive upgrade that will significantly improve smartphones’ performance and capabilities.
