Samsung has reportedly announced that it will offer up to eight years of operating system and security update support for its Android devices. This is a significant improvement over the previous update commitment made by Samsung for business tablets, which was four years of operating system updates and five years of security updates.

According to Android Authority, the latest Galaxy S24 series is promised by Samsung to provide a commendable seven years of security and operating system updates, similar to Google’s commitment to the Pixel 8 series. However, the company has decided to extend this support period even further for some Galaxy tablet models, at least for enterprise users.

Samsung’s Benelux representative, Andy Rottiers, confirmed on LinkedIn that the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Enterprise Edition tablet will receive eight years of updates. An image uploaded by Rottiers further confirms Samsung’s commitment to providing eight operating system updates for the device, which means that the tablet will potentially get Android 22.

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 is an interesting tablet model that is available in both business and standard versions. It is equipped with mid-range specifications such as the Exynos 1380 chip, an 8.8-inch 120 Hz TFT screen, and other outstanding features such as a removable battery, 3.5 mm audio port, microSD memory card support, replaceable hardware buttons, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
