Square Enix Continues Forspoken Delay To 2023

Square Enix’s Forspoken game continues to be delayed, and the latest release is scheduled for 2023.

According to VCG , Forspoken has experienced several delays, the PS5 and PC game was originally slated to launch in May 2022, but in March its release was pushed back to October.

Recently, Square Enix continued to announce that the game’s release date has now been delayed another 3.5 months, to January 24, 2023.

“As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move Forspoken date to January 24, 2023,” said Square Enix and the in-house development studio. Luminous Productions said in a statement. “All elements of the game are now complete and development is in the final stages of completion.”

“We want to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey. Your excitement for the game inspires us every day, and we can’t wait to share more of Forspoken later this summer!”

Announced in June 2020, Forspoken is the debut game from Luminous Productions. Billed as “a story-driven adventure set in a world “, players will take on the role of Frey Holland, “a young woman who must harness her magical abilities himself to survive in the wonderful but dangerous land of Athia”.

Square Enix says it’s aiming to deliver “the highest visual quality ever seen in an open-world game” with Forspoken, which will be a PlayStation exclusive for two years.
